Children with Attention Difficulties can cause a family or a classroom teacher frustration. The children are often very bright and very capable yet are not achieving at their expected level. This workshop examines the possible causes and will help the participants understand the world of a child with ADD/ADHD. Cases will be examined and strategies will be discussed to help family, teachers and the child him/herself cope with this very difficult condition.

The Policies are formulated for Hamad Medical Corporation to all departments which are governed by it. The paper will present the policies concerned with Physical medicine & rehabilitation physicians (Physiatrists) and allied health professionals of Rehabilitation service. the Clinical manual policy No CL 6091a deals with assessment and reassessment of individual requiring rehabilitation services of allied health professionals (Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy and orthotic & Prosthetic),The Clinical manual policy No CL 6091b deals with assessment and reassessment of Rehabilitation needs of patients by Physiatrists. These documents contain information on Policy, definition, Responsibilities, procedures and references.

Childhood disability affects millions of children around the world. Over the last 10 years, there are an increasing number of children with disability and greater severity of impairment. The patterns and presentations of disability and developmental disorders are variable; a proportion of children may show delay or disorder in one or more areas of development while others have impairment specific to vision, hearing and/or communication. Disorders can be present in other specific learning impairment such as dyslexia, whereas others challenges are with behavioral difficulties. Disorders can be temporary and resolve with appropriate input while others are permanent and require long-term follow up. Services for children with disabilities are unique and challenging Services that are comprehensive and integrative within the community are most beneficial, Dedicated / specialized multi-disciplinary team intervening at different stages of development will ensure a healthy and functional development process throughout life. Facilities must be accessible, equipped and customized for children with disabilities in order to allow valuable therapeutic interventions .Children with special needs require access to community resources across their life span to ensure fruitful and practical progression.Rehabilitation services are perceived as a cure or solution to the child's disability. This wrong impression impedes the requirement of team approach in which family role is vital and the importance of accepting the disability through setting realistic goals is crucial. The barriers of no or limited community services limits the quality developments required to ensure continuum of care and inclusion. The key strategies to rehabilitation include Interactive collaboration between therapy services for measured quality outcomes, Patient / family advocacy, educating the client or family of their rights and how to approach their situation to gain recognition and acceptance, specialized therapy programs for specific populations ,Collaboration with community organization for process of integration .According to best practice model for the care of children with disabilities consists of integrated and interlinked aspects of service delivery. The following are key components of the model Screening, Early intervention ,Specialized Therapy Services ,Community services ,Linking all four is Research, Training and Development
Family Consulting Center Services for Individuals/clients with special needs

The Family Consulting Center (FCC) in Qatar is a non-for-profit social organization concerned with protecting families from potential challenges/crises, enhancing familial ties and unity, and empowering all family members. FCC provides its wide range of free services to all individuals in society, regardless of their nationality, gender, age, religion, and cultural background; thus, individuals with special needs are among the target clients.FCC multi-level scope of services embraces: educative, preventive and constructive programs (i.e. training courses, workshops, lectures and presentations), as well as psychotherapeutic, counseling, and consultation services (mainly in five major areas: psychological, social, educational, sharia, and legal). FCC provides different supporting programs that teaches children with special needs, such as autism, how to overcome difficulties in communication with others, as well as other interpersonal skills. Moreover, FCC assists families of children with special needs to cope with such situation, overcoming the feeling of social stigma and poor image in order to become more supportive to their own child/children. On the other hand, the center provides support group & group psychotherapy sessions to their families. at the preventive and educative level, FCC encourages pre-marital medical examination, and tackles its importance on the whole family life through separate or integrated educative activities and programs, such as the premarital education program. Our programs assist married couples, if any one of them happened to suffer from any impairment/difficulties or handicap due to congenital or hereditary reasons. Clients with special needs, who visited the FCC so far included Hyper Activity, or ADHD, Autism, Physical handicap/impairment resultant from accidents, congenital or hereditary abnormalities, or families with children with special needs and learning difficulties/disabilities like dyslexia. Finally, the paper submits several recommendations.

يتطرق البحث لضعف التعليم عند الصم وبالأحرى مخرجات التعليم لدى الصم والتي تتمثل بالضعف اللغوي والكتابي لدى الصم ،وعدم قدرتهم على إكمال الدراسة للوصول للمراحل الجامعية كما يناقش البحث عدم معرفة المدرس لقواعد لغة الصم وفهم آلية تفكير الصم وثقافتهم واستثمار لغة الإشارة بالإثراء اللغوي والكتابي ،وكيفية توظيفها لإيصال المعلومة ( المنهج التعليمي) للطالب الأصم ومن ثم التعرف على منهجية ثنائي الثقافة ثنائي اللغة .واستناداً إلى ما تقدم ، فان أسباب اختيار مشكلة البحث والتي تنحصر في تقديم تجربة ميدانية للباحث في تأهيل معلمي الصم على مستوى الوطن العربي وتسليط الضوء على الحلقة المفقودة والحلقات الأضعف في العملية التعليمية من خلال التطرق للمحاور التالية آلية تفكير الأصم وتحليله للمعلومة وكيفية استقبالها عن طريق لغته الإشارة ،ذاكرة الأصم الصورية والتي تعتمد بالأساس على الألفاظ المرئية المتمثلة بلغة الإشارة وطريقة حفظه للمعلومة والمسميات.ومعلم الصم ثنائي اللغة ثنائي الثقافة ... الأصم ثنائي اللغة ثنائي الثقافة معالجة وتوضيح وأهمية الصور الذهنية بالتعلم اللفظي لدى الأصم وتحويل المثيرات السمعية إلى مثيرات بصرية .ومنهجية توظيف لغة الإشارة بالحصة الصفية. والتعرف على الحقيبة التدريبية الأولى للكوادر العاملة في مجال الصم والذي أعدها الباحث نفسه.

تعرض وتناقش ورقة العمل أهمية الإرشاد والدعم النفسي لأسر الأطفال ذوي الإعاقة وأهمية تعيين أخصائي نفسي يتابع الأسرة بدءاً من مرحلة الصدمة إلى تخطيها والبدء بتقبل الطفل المعاق وتقديم الإرشاد لها في كل ما يمكن أن تواجهه من مشكلات وأهمية جماعات الدعم بشكل عام والخدمات والبرامج المقدمة في دولة قطر الواقع والتحدي والطموح .
